Know what's awesome about being in the same building as the two big top 40 stations of the '70s, '80s and more?  You happen upon some pretty cool stuff...and recently, we stumbled across a huge collection of WDBQ and K-Live 105 music surveys that counted down the biggest hits in the area every week.  Instead of just geeking out on them ourselves, we thought we'd share them with you!  So here's the top 5 songs from May 1, 1979:

5. Village People/"In The Navy"
I'm no expert on the military, but I have a hard time believing that the Navy let the Indian wear his headdress on duty.

4. England Dan & John Ford Coley/"Love Is The Answer"
Pretty sure that sentiment remains the same -- especially right now, amiright?

3. Paul McCartney & Wings/"Goodnight Tonight"
Okay, so it might not be one of their best songs, but Paul McCartney can just do whatever he wants, mmmkay?

2. Blondie/"Heart Of Glass"
I'm not sure anyone was really screaming out for a song to merge New Wave and disco, but dang if Blondie didn't go ahead and do it anyway -- and it's awesome.

1. Peaches & Herb/"Reunited"
And it feels sooooooo good.

Hope you dug today's Tri-State Throwbacks.  Make sure you check back Monday through Friday for a new countdown!
