In the Tri-States, one doesn't have to look too far to see vibrant communities and organizations making tremendous contributions toward a high quality of life for area citizens.

Whether in the form of significant financial awards like those recently announced by the Dubuque Racing Association or volunteer-run organizations such as the Dubuque Veteran's Freedom Center, there is an abundance of people making an effort to enhance their communities.

A fine example of community involvement and enhancement is in Cuba City, Wisconsin, with a population of 2,200. The Lions Club adds to its membership when many work to maintain their participation levels. As a result, the Lions have added 17 new members in the past year, bringing their membership to 71 in Cuba City, the City of Presidents.

In following their motto, "Become involved, become a Lion," the Cuba City Lions Club recently donated $700.00 to fund a new US flag and flagpole in Cuba City's downtown. They are located by the Caboose in the City's Presidential Plaza on Main Street.

The Cuba City Lions have funded projects such as the original Presidential Shields adorning the city's Main Street lamp poles since 1976. In addition, the Lions Club played a significant part in helping create the Memorial in the city's Veterans Park. The Lions Club also contributes significantly to area blood drives and vision tests for students in the area schools. Not to mention Lions Park is also a popular destination in Cuba City.

On July 20th, during the Cuba City Community Market, Lions President Duane Klein presented the new flag to Donna Rogers, President of the City of Presidents Committee.

"We are all very thankful for the many contributions the Lions have made to our community over the years," Rogers said.
