Without question, the Dubuque Independence Day fireworks display is a doozy. It will be again this year with the recent announcement of a $25,000 contribution towards the show from the Dubuque Racing Association (DRA).

On June 28, during the DRA's board meeting, the Dubuque Jaycees were presented $25,000 to help support the community's upcoming Fireworks and Air Show Spectacular.

This year's festivities begin on July 1, with the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team performing in Elizabeth, Illinois, followed by performances in Hazel Green, Wisconsin (July 2) and Dubuque, Iowa (July 3). The Golden Knights' last performance will be on July 4 in Cassville, Wisconsin.

The Dubuque celebration and air show performance will take on Sunday, July 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in AY McDonald Park next to the Hawthorn Boat Ramp just below Lock and Dam 11. The ever-popular fireworks display will occur at dusk on Sunday evening.

"The DRA has a long history of supporting community events, so providing funding that helps individuals and families from the tri-state area enjoy this national holiday is important," said Alex Dixon, President & CEO of the DRA and Q Casino.

As of June 27, The DRA is also now accepting applications from eligible organizations for their new Mission Grant program. Requests for these grants can range from $50,000 to $500,000. Those seeking grants should focus on programs and initiatives to enhance population growth, retention, and tourism in the Dubuque area.

Multi-year requests for funding will be considered. However, programs or initiatives should demonstrate the overall long-term impact to the community and show sustainability beyond any initial budget.

For more information on application details regarding the new Mission Grants, as well as other DRA funding opportunities and news, please visit https://dradubuque.com/.

The Dubuque Racing Commission's commitment to the community is made possible by proceeds from both Q Casino and the Diamond Jo Casinos. Both casinos attract thousands of visitors to Dubuque each year from Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and beyond.
