The Dubuque County Fairgrounds' annual "Trunk or Treat" was held in the Fairgrounds' parking lot on Thursday, October 20th. For the unbeatable admission price of $1, kids and their parents got to dress up and get candy from a variety of Dubuque/Tri-State businesses, residents, and even radio stations!

Y105 and 103.3 WJOD were out on-location livening up the crowd with some Halloween tunes and ostensibly bottomless containers of candy! My partner Katie and I dressed as cowboys (I have several to thank for making this costume come together for myself). I was jokingly referring to myself as "Suburban Cowboy" half the night!

I've lived in an apartment for the last several years. As a result, the experience of handing out candy to kids has been all but lost for me for sometime. That changed last night as 500+ kids ventured out to the Fairgrounds to fill their buckets, grocery bags, or pillow cases with enough candy for an army. We had an assortment of Tootsie Rolls, Tootsie pops, Fruit Chews, and more!

Just as cool as the kids' costumes were the vehicles themselves. The Fairgrounds was jammed with vehicles of all different shapes and sizes, decked out in cobwebs, fake blood, lights, pumpkins, and other seasonably appropriate Halloween decorations. People showed up and showed out.

A big shoutout is deserved for all the tireless workers at the Fairgrounds, who worked hard to make sure this event was safe, fun, and accommodating for everyone who showed up wide-eyed in anticipation of a sugar rush. In addition to the trick-or-treating, a Haunted Bus was on-sight for kids and parents, as well as other activities for attendees. It went off without a hitch as far as I could tell.

This is an event done justice with photos. You can scroll through a barrage of photos captured throughout the evening. I already cannot wait for next year's "Trunk or Treat" event at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds!
