After several weeks on the road, with eight games during that stint, it's almost time for the Dubuque Fighting Saints to come home. At last, the newly remodeled and retooled Dubuque Ice Arena is ready to host the Fighting Saints.

The Fighting Saints had the unenviable task of playing their first eight games this season on the road. Under new Head Coach Kirk MacDonald, the Saints emerged from that run 4-3-1, a strong start for a young and hungry team at the disadvantage of being temporarily homeless, for lack of a better term.

Robert Miller, President of Business Operations for the Dubuque Fighting Saints, and Alex Dixon, President/CEO of Q Casino, stopped by the studio today to talk about the Saints' strong start as well as their excitement for the Fighting Saints' home opener, this Friday, November 4th.

But before the opener, the Dubuque Ice Arena will be christened with an open house, happening Wednesday, November 2nd from 4pm to 6pm.

It will be an opportunity for fans and Dubuque residents alike to get a taste of the renovations to the arena formerly known as the Mystique Ice Center. Beyond being the home of the Fighting Saints, the Ice Arena will also house the Dubuque Fossils Hockey team as well as drop-in hockey games at $10/player.

Alex Dixon couldn't hide his excitement for the upcoming opener and open house:

At Q Casino DRA, we are proud to take over management [....] This is so exciting, we want to make sure the community comes out [....] to see some of the updates. But really, get geared up for Fighting Saints season. We got a packed house come Friday. We are so excited about a great season and a great foundational year.

Both Dixon and Miller are thrilled about the renovations, as well as the "new skins" on the entrance as you come into the Ice Arena. Plus, the open house even provides an opportunity for eventgoers to skate as well; try out the ice that will be the center of all the action in the new and improved building.

Take a listen to Dixon and Miller discuss the open house, the Fighting Saints' start to the season, and what's to come with the opening of the Dubuque Ice Arena!
