When I was a kid growing up, I was fascinated by the Guinness Book of World Records.  I literally read the book cover to cover.  I don't remember all the World Records but I do recall the one for "longest fingernails".  Due to copyright laws, I won't show you photos of some of the finalists, but you can check them out for yourself HERE

I was never able to part of an actual Guinness World record, but I did witness one firsthand a few years ago when Tom Rauen set the world record for most t-shirts worn at one time (247).

Tom's record has since been broken by a guy from Canada(he word 260), but it was still cool to be a part of Tom's efforts.

Okay, let me get to the real point of this story.  The Iowa State Fair is giving you a chance to be part of a Guinness World Record.  During this year's fair, they are attempting to break the World Record for the largest Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, August 20th.

By definition, it's a lawn game in which players toss beanbags toward a slanted board with the goal of landing the bag through the hole in the center of the board. Whether you call it bags, backyard toss, bagg-o, Chuck-O, bean bags or cornhole, the Iowa State Fair wants your help

The current record stands at just 444 participants set by an organization in San Diego, California in June of 2019. The Iowa State Fair has been close to the record in the past.

In order to break the current record in 2022, the Iowa State Fair will need more than 444 participants. Registration information for teams can be found at www.iowastatefair.org. Doubles are required to pre-register this year on the Scoreholio App so that an official count can be logged by Guinness World Records. No day of registrations will be accepted. All participants will receive a free commemorative t-shirt.
