Saints Split First Road Games Of The Regular Season
Your Dubuque Fighting Saints kicked off their 2022-23 regular season this past weekend (9/24 & 9/25) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as part of the Dick's Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic. Dubuque opened their season against Des Moines on Saturday, the 24th with a thrilling Overtime win 5-4.
Outshooting the opponent on the night 39 to 27, the saints also manage to shut down a Des Moines Buccaneer's power play; however they were also denied 3 of their own. It took a heavy scoring 2nd period before the scoring opened. With 4 goal scorers on the night Powell and Ryan St. Louis continue their prime scoring form, with the latter raking in 2 goals on the night.
Sunday, the Saints dueled with the Omaha Lancers to close out their games at the Fall Classic with a 1-0-1 record to start off the season.
The Saints outshot the Lancers 27 to 22 on the night and were unable to capitalize on4 power plays. Scores for the Lancers came across the 2nd and 3rd periods but were not a part of any power plays as the saints held them across 2 separate occasions.
The Saints next match-up takes them to Middleton, Wisconsin where they will face the Madison Capitols. Puck drop is at 7:05pm, with the pre-game show from Blake Theisen starting live on Eagle 102.3 at 6:45pm Friday, September 30th. The Saints home opener is still set for Friday, November 4th at 7:05pm against this weeks opponents, Madison.
