Rusty Taco Makes Great Happy Hour Margs
It's often fun discovering new places to eat and drink. As it happens, yesterday, while stopping by the Natural Grocers at Asbury Plaza, I noticed a few folks under the umbrellas and at the outside bar at Rusty Taco.
Seeing how it was a sunny day, something was alluring about the scene, so I decided the time was right to give this place a try. One caveat, this was at 3 pm, so I was hoping there would also be a Happy Hour underway.
Sure enough, that was the case with their half-price margaritas and beer.
Having played Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett earlier during the Good Morning Rodeo, I felt assured that it was Five O'clock Somewhere. So I went to the bar and ordered one of their margaritas on the rocks with a salted rim.
I'm always a little leary of a chain restaurant's premade margaritas dispensed from one of those drink machines. Still, I must say, Rusty Taco's margarita was a solid concoction with just the right blend of lime and tequila. But, of course, the Happy Hour price made it all the better.
Not one to exist solely on a liquid diet and having spotted a nearby customer's order, I also opted for the cauliflower taco bowl. It was a hearty and tasty serving consisting of grilled cauliflower, avocado crema, slaw, pickled red onions, and rice. Delicious!
Feeling pretty good, I thought I better continue my research by ordering another margarita, but a frozen one this time. I've long considered it my duty to go the extra mile when reviewing food and beverage establishments. So with temps in the mid-80s, I wanted to be sure about this frozen margarita recommendation.
The happy hour food and drink at Rusty Taco hit the spot, the price was right, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I plan to return and look forward to exploring the rest of the menu.
I give Rusty Taco 4 out of 5 limes!
