One of the most iconic movie houses from the 1990s hit the market and sold in the span of a week's time.

Per The New York Post, the house from the movie Home Alone, located at 671 Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka, has sold after just a week on the market. The home is located roughly 16 miles north of downtown Chicago. It's a sprawling, Georgia-style estate that was built in 1921.

The house, which was listed for $5.25 million, is over 9,000 square-feet in size, and although the interior is markedly different than it was when Kevin McCallister defended the property from two goons trying to break in, there is still quite a bit of room for hijinks and booby traps (sold separately).

Home Alone hardly needs an introduction. It was the breakout role for Macaulay Culkin, who played eight-year-old Kevin, who was forced to fend for himself after his family accidentally left him behind for a holiday vacation.

But his own self-supervised sabbatical of junk food and indoor sledding is interrupted when he hears burglars (Daniel SternJoe Pesci) trying to break in the home. Cue plucky little Kevin trying to arm the house with makeshift traps to foil the burglars' plans.

However, the home doesn't look quite the same. In fact, to my eyes, it's radically different in style. The home has been renovated and expanded as of 2018, although "the integrity of the home's most memorable and recognizable spaces" has been maintained, per the Zillow listing by the Dawn McKenna Group:

The residence itself is a masterpiece of traditional style with an effortlessly flowing floorplan brimming with warmth, character, and exquisitely crafted detail. Fully renovated and expanded in 2018, the current owners took the utmost care in maintaining the architectural detail and integrity of the home's most memorable and recognizable spaces. - per the Zillow listing by the Dawn McKenna Group

The final sale price for the home nor the identity of the buyer have been released at this time, per The New York Post.

Beyond the home being instantly recognizable, its quick sale isn't a shocker given a few factors. It's located in a highly desirable (aka safe) neighborhood with exceptional schools, easy access to beaches and parks, in close proximity to Chicago, and more.
