There are countless staples of Christmas every single year, but one makes their presence known whether you're grocery shopping or holiday shopping. Often times, they do it with the help of a brass instrument.

Of course I'm talking about the Salvation Army and their annual Christmas Kettle Campaign. Our area's local division, the Salvation Army of Dubuque, has revealed how and when this year's Kettle Campaign will kick off. They also revealed their "Challenge Days" for 2022 as well!

When Does the Kettle Campaign Begin?:

The Salvation Army of Dubuque will be starting their 2022 Kettle Campaign in a big way. They'll be kicking off the multi-week event at the Dubuque Fighting Saints game this Friday, November 18th. The puck drops at 7:05pm as the Saints take on the Muskegon Lumberjacks.

Those attending the game can bring a canned or non-perishable food item if they so desire. The items will go to the Salvation Army's Food Pantry, located at 1099 Iowa Street in Dubuque.

When are the "Challenge Days?":

This holiday season, the Salvation Army will be holding their "Challenge Days" between November 21st and November 23rd. There will be two separate kettles at the Sam's Club in Dubuque. Passersby are encouraged to drop change in the bucket of the team/TV show they love more.

  • November 21st: Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Iowa State Cyclones
  • November 22nd: Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers
  • November 23rd: Star Wars vs. Star Trek

Those dates offer a nice added incentive to contribute to a very good cause. You can visit the Salvation Army's event kickoff Facebook page for more details. Read more about the Red Kettle Campaign on the Salvation Army's website!
