WOW: Dubuque Iowa Drug Task Force Collects over 400 Pounds of Drugs

On  Saturday, October 21^st, 2021, the Dubuque Drug Task Force, in conjunction with the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency, participated in a nationwide effort sponsored by the DEA to collect old and unused prescription medications.   Items collected included prescription medication, non-prescription medication, vitamins, herbals, supplements, syringes, and other items.

The total weight of prescription and non-prescription medication collected during the event was 388.45 pounds.  The total weight of sharps collected was 171.2 pounds.  A total of 165 households participated in the event.

The items collected will be incinerated at a later date.

A reminder to anyone who may have missed this event, the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office has a Prescription Drop Box located in the front lobby of the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center located at 770 Iowa St., Dubuque, Ia.
