WOW: Dubuque Iowa Drug Task Force Collects over 400 Pounds of Drugs
On Saturday, October 21st, 2021, the Dubuque Drug Task Force, in conjunction with the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency, participated in a nationwide effort sponsored by the DEA to collect old and unused prescription medications. Items collected included prescription medication, non-prescription medication, vitamins, herbals, supplements, syringes, and other items.
The total weight of prescription and non-prescription medication collected during the event was 388.45 pounds. The total weight of sharps collected was 171.2 pounds. A total of 165 households participated in the event.
The items collected will be incinerated at a later date.
A reminder to anyone who may have missed this event, the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office has a Prescription Drop Box located in the front lobby of the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center located at 770 Iowa St., Dubuque, Ia.
