Over the past several weeks, Townsquare Media Dubuque and it's partners, R T & T Enterprises, DuTrac Community Credit Union and J & J Pools and Spa, have been saluting Veterans and the Freedom Center of Dubuque.  This campaign was two-fold.  The first goal was to spread the word to area veterans that there is a place just for them in Dubuque.  In 2019 prior to COVID-19, the Freedom Center helped over 8,000 vets and their families. Whether they just want to spend time with other veterans, share stories, relax with a game of pool, or create wooden works of art....the Veterans Freedom Center is there for them. All services are FREE.

Several generations of uniforms are on display including a uniform from WWI. As you can see a lot of great things are happening a the Freedom Center.  There's a game room to relax in.  Also, a woodshop where they created some wonderful works of art.   Most of the items they create are available for a suggested donation. Check out the photos

The Veterans Freedom Center actually got it's start in Jim Wagner's garage several years ago.  It eventually moved to a warehouse, before setting in their own building on Kerper Boulevard.

That brings us to the 2nd goal of this campaign.  The Freedom Center is run entirely by volunteers and relies on donations from the general public. Thanks to J & J Pool and Spa, DuTrac Community Credit Union, and R T & T Enterprises, Townsquare Media Dubuque was able to present the Freedom Center with a check for $2200

Representatives from R T & T and DuTrac are pictures presenting the check to Jim Wagner.  100% of money raised or donated stays in Dubuque. If you'd like to help the Freedom Center, stop down and make a donation.  Or simply drop off your cans and bottles for donation. In one week's time the Freedom Center collects more than 16,000 cans.

Our veterans were there for us when we needed them, now we need to be there for them.
