Netflix and Hasbro Partner for New ‘Stretch Armstrong’ Animated Series
Circling back an umpteenth time for the Stretch Armstrong movie seems like … well, a stretch, so let’s see Netflix take it in a new direction. Meet the Hasbro-backed Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters, featuring the voices of Walking Dead alum Steven Yeun, Felicia Day and more.
The new series will re-imagine the classic toy as high school student Jake Armstrong, who comes in contact with an experimental chemical that changes his life, and the lives of friends Nathan Park and Ricardo Perez. The full twenty-six episode premiere will drop later this year.
Voice cast for Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters includes Scott Menville as Jake Armstrong/Stretch, Steven Yeun as Nathan Park/Wingspan, Ogie Banks as Ricardo Perez/Omni-Mass, Star Trek alum Wil Wheaton and Walter Koenig as Rook and Mr. Savic, Felicia Day as Erika, Keith David as Kane and Orange Is The New Black star Kate Mulgrew as Dr. C. Said Hasbro bosses of the series:
Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters is the first Hasbro brand to receive a Netflix original series order. We have been waiting for just the right moment to re-imagine Stretch for a new audience and our friends at Netflix got it right away; they have been a tremendous partner. We have hit a superhero sweet spot, and with Netflix’s global reach, kids across the world will fall in love with its fun characters and action-packed storyline.
Adaptations of the classic ‘70s toy have been swirling for years, most notably in the last decade with Twilight star Taylor Lautner reported for the title role. Stay tuned for more on Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters in the meantime.
