Stolen Vehicle Clocked at Over 110 Miles Per Hour on Highway 20 in Dubuque County
Dubuque County deputies clocked a stolen vehicle at speeds up to 110 miles an hour earlier today (Tuesday June 22) on Highway 20 West of Dubuque.
Dubuque County deputies and the Peosta Police Department located a vehicle matching the description of vehicle believed to have been involved in a theft of merchandise an that occurred at Dicks Sporting Goods in Dubuque just after 1:30pm today. A traffic stop was attempted by the Peosta Police Department, the vehicle refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued. Stop sticks were successfully deployed around the Epworth area and the vehicle came a stop just west of Farley.
The driver was taken into custody without incident and was identified as 38 year old Nathan A Cross of Clinton, IA. Cross was charged with eluding, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating while intoxicated by drug or alcohol, theft of a motor vehicle, theft of license plates, two Dubuque County warrants, one out of state warrant, a warrant out of jurisdiction and numerous traffic violations.
No one was injured in the pursuit and subsequent arrest of Cross.
The Farley and Epworth Police Departments also assisted. The Dubuque Police Department is investigating the reported theft at Dick's Sporting Goods in the Kennedy Mall in Dubuque.
