Saints Split Weekend In Ohio
Friday nights (11/11) match-up against the Youngstown Phantoms did not go according to plan. The Phantoms run away with a 7-2 victory on the evening that started with a 3-0 first period. By the second, it was 5-2, with the phantoms adding 2 more to finish the night off. Phantoms, Shane Lachance scored a brace on the evening as they outshot the Saints 40-27 and capitalized on 4 of 7 power play attempts. The Saints, however, were shut down on their 4 powerplay opportunities.
Saturday night's (11/12) game was a nail bitter through and through with the Saints coming out on top after a shootout 6-5. The Dubuque Fighting Saints started the evening with a 1-0 1st before the game opened up. Saints followed it up with a 3-1 second before the Phantoms roared back with a 4-1 3rd period taking us into a stalled-out Overtime, and finally a shootout where the Saints would prevail.
Saints were again outshot on the evening 27 to 19 but took advantage of 3 of their 5 powerplays on the evening. The Phantoms managed to go 2 for 6 on their powerplays as the Saints defense held just enough to make an end game run for the win.
