Things are not looking good for security guard Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) and the magical residents of the Museum of Natural History. In the new trailer for 'Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,' the ancient tablet that brings the museum's assorted statues, fossils, and Owen Wilsons to life is running out of power and it's up to Larry to travel to England (where they sell rechargeable magic tablets, or something) to save his historically accurate pals and ensure that there is enough energy left over to keep the 'Night at the Museum' franchise going for at least a few more movies.

Technically, the 'Secret of the Tomb' poster teases "one final night to save the day," suggesting this could be the last 'Night at the Museum' movie whether Larry finds another power source or not (maybe solar?). But c'mon; the first two 'NatM's grossed almost $1 billion worldwide. If this third film (yes, there are three 'Night at the Museum's) performs along similar lines, there could easily be another (and another [and another]).

'Secret of the Tomb' is directed by Shawn Levy, who also directed both of the previous 'Night at the Museum's. Here's the official synopsis:

Get ready for the wildest and most adventure-filled Night At the Museum ever as Larry (Ben Stiller) spans the globe, uniting favorite and new characters while embarking on an epic quest to save the magic before it is gone forever.

'Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb' opens on December 19.
