Whether I'm willing to admit it or not, I'm at the point in my life where I'm closer to the end than the beginning. Not that I'm in any hurry to call it quits, but I've definitely reached the point where I need to do a little planning.

The question is "where do I start".  Well, my wife and I were smart enough to start saving for our retirement many years ago.   We managed to put a little away from every paycheck, and despite the recent drop in the stock market, we are still in pretty good shape as we both approach our sixties.

But that doesn't mean I don't continue to have more questions than answers.  I recently ran across a website dedicated to Seniors.  It's staffed by volunteers and appears to have lots of great information.  Full disclaimer, I have not spent much time on the website, nor am I affiliated with it in any way.  I simply received some information on it in the form of a news release and thought I'd pass it along.

The website is  https://grantsforseniors.org/. The volunteers working on this website guide seniors and retirees when they need help. Subjects may be categorized as:

    Financial Help
    Health Care
    Help with Rent
    Housing Assistance
    Food Assistance
    Clothing Assistance
    Transportation Assistance
    Daily Life and so on

It has information on resources in all 50 states to help elderly citizens easily reach benefits where they live. If you live in the tri-states here are the direct links for the state you live in.
They say your retirement years of the "Golden Years".  Here's hoping this information helps you in some way.

LOOK: See how much gasoline cost the year you started driving

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Read on to explore the cost of gas over time and rediscover just how much a gallon was when you first started driving.
