Minor Leaguer Hits Dramatic Playoff HR, Drama Skyrockets When He Tears ACL Rounding Bases
Not since Kirk Gibson's game-winning home run in the 1988 World Series have we seen such a dramatic round-tripper.
Okay, maybe not, but this tater is still pretty amazing.
Sean Smith hit a game-tying home run for the York Revolution in the eighth inning of the third game of the team's playoff series against the Sugar Land Skeeters last week. Things got even more intense, though, when Smith suffered an injury: he tore his ACL as he rounded first base during his trot.
Somehow, he mustered the strength to make it around the bases in a scene that reminds us of the magic of sports. York went on to win the game, but that magic would eventually run out as Sugar Land took the series.
Still, Smith's blast showed that, like Gibson's, you can be injured and still provide plenty of drama come the postseason.
