Michigan based Trinity Health Buys Out All MercyOne Assets

It was just announced Monday, April 19^th, that Michigan-based Catholic health care system Trinity health is purchasing all assets of the MercyOne Health System.

Since 1988, MercyOne has operated in a joint agreement between Trinity Health and CommonSpirit Health, but this new agreement will make Trinity the sole parent of all things currently MecryOne. The transaction is expected to be completed this summer, with both companies, Trinity and CommonSpirit, planning for the merger. The companies must complete regulatory filings before they are able to finalize the transaction.

The MercyOne system includes 16 medical centers, 27 affiliate organizations, and over 420 care sites, which serve around 3.3 million patients yearly; this includes Iowa hospitals in Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Oelwein, Des Moines, and Dubuque. People intimately involved with this move believe it will result in a stronger, more cohesive health system; with the goal of offering convenient and personalized care. It is also noted that MercyOne will transition to the Trinity Health single electronic health record platform.

Trinity Health, based in Livonia, Michigan, is one of the largest not-for-profit, Catholic health care systems in the nation, featuring; 115,000 colleagues and nearly 26,000 physicians and clinicians. They care for diverse communities across 25 states and are nationally recognized for care and experience.
