Joe Perry to Rejoin Hollywood Vampires Tomorrow
Nearly two weeks after collapsing while performing with the Hollywood Vampires, Joe Perry is ready to get back on the road. He will make his return to the group tomorrow (July 22) at Weill Hall in Rohnert Park, Calif.
The band broke the news on their Facebook page, while noting that there are only four dates left on their tour, with shows every night between Perry's return and the closer on July 25 at the Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, Calif. You can see all the remaining locations at the tour section of Hollywood Vampires' website.
On July 10, the Hollywood Vampires, which includes Alice Cooper and actor Johnny Depp, were one song into their set at the Coney Island Amphitheatre in Brooklyn, N.Y., when Perry walked off the stage and collapsed. He was taken to a nearby hospital and, although it was rumored that he had suffered a cardiac arrest, yesterday it was revealed that he had "a combination of dehydration and exhaustion." The group canceled its appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, but continued the tour without him.
Perry's Aerosmith bandmate, Steven Tyler, thinks the pace of the Hollywood Vampires tour had something to do with Perry's illness. “I think he’s out there and someone’s overbooking him,” Tyler said. “They’re doing like eight or nine shows in a row, or five in a row. I think they’re all a little burnt. I think they may need to look at that. Not young anymore, you know?”
