The Dubuque Regional Humane Society is excited to introduce this week’s Pet of the Week: Bowser! No, he’s not the King of the Koopa's; he’s just a big, goofy softie with a heart full of love!

Bowser is 1.5 years old, weighs 53 pounds, and may look tough on the outside. However, on the inside, he’s pure marshmallow. He arrived at the shelter back in April, and since then, he’s made amazing progress learning to trust people.

This shy guy is looking for a calm, loving home where he can feel safe and confident. Bowser prefers to be the only dog in the household, so he can have all the attention and love he deserves.

Bowser’s favorite things include trying out new enrichment treats and puzzles, showing off his skills on the agility equipment during solo dog park time, and relaxing with his favorite shelter staff and volunteers. He’s a smart pup who loves to learn, and with patience and consistency, he’s shown he’s ready to thrive in a forever home.

Despite his initial shyness, Bowser is affectionate and gentle once he feels comfortable. He’s the kind of dog who will quietly nuzzle up next to you after a long day or wag his tail at just the right moment to make you smile. With a little time and love, he’ll be your loyal companion for life.
