Hy-Vee Offering Free Breakfast for Veterans, Active-Duty Servicemembers

With Memorial Day fast approaching, several businesses are going above and beyond to accommodate veterans and active-duty servicemembers. Hy-Vee will be throwing their hat in the ring to do just that leading up to the holiday.

On Wednesday, May 20th, all Hy-Vee locations with hot food service will offer veterans and active-duty servicemembers a free, buffet-style breakfast from 6-10am, per the company's most recent media advisory. The breakfast will feature eggs, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, and more.

The free meal is part of the Hy-Vee Homefront program, which is engineered to provide support for military veterans and active-duty servicemembers. Since its inception, the organization has enacted such initiatives as the Hy-Vee Homefront Round-Up, which allows customers the ability to round-up their purchases to the nearest dollar throughout the month of May to support organizations like:

• The American Red Cross
• Honor Flight Network
• Hope for the Warriors
• Operation First ResponsePuppy Jake Foundation

Every Wednesday in May, from 6-10am, Hy-Vee has been offering for free coffee for veterans and active-duty servicemembers. Like the breakfast, the free coffee is offered in Hy-Vee stores that also provide hot food service.

And in terms of an even greater impact, in late May, Hy-Vee is teaming up with the United Service Organizations (USO) to distribute 5,000 hygiene kits to support deploying and active-duty servicemembers throughout the Midwest.
