Dubuque’s Comiskey Park to Close Temporarily for Playground Surface Repairs
Starting today, one of Dubuque's most popular parks will be closed for a week so repairs can take place.
Comiskey Park, located at 255 E. 24th Street, will be closed from Monday, October 5th through Friday, October 9th. During this week, workers will be replacing the colored top layer of the playground surface. This closure renders all park amenities, including the playground, splash-pad, and park building, inaccessible for the weeklong timeframe.

The resurfacing project is necessary due to the deteriorating condition of the playground's rubber surface, and will result in the application of a completely new layer. This was due to "an installation issue," per the City of Dubuque's website. The new surface requires a 48-to-72 hour long period to cure before it's ready for public use. That said, the park is expected to reopen Saturday, October 10th.
The replacement layer is being completed under warranty at no cost to the City of Dubuque, per a press release from the city. Following the closure, Comiskey Park remains open through the fourth Sunday in October from 8am - 10pm.
