UPDATE: In a press release from the Linn County Sheriff's Department, the victim of Tuesday night's accident has been identified. 48-year-old Chad Craig of Cedar Rapids was riding the motorcycle that was hit on Cottage Grove Ave. and Highlands Ct. at around 7:06 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The press release also states that the driver of the vehicle that hit Craig, 60-year-old Debra Trimble of Marion, has now been charged with OWI, vehicular homicide, and unsafe passing.

A head-on collision in Cedar Rapids Tuesday night claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the Linn County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene of a fatality accident at Cottage Grove Ave. and Highlands Court SE at around 7:06 p.m. Tuesday night. After an investigation, sheriff officials determined that a vehicle driven by 60-year-old Debra Trimble of Marion had been traveling north on Cottage Grove Ave near Highlands Court when she attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone.

When attempting to pass the other vehicle, Trimble stuck an oncoming motorcycle that was traveling south in the other lane, according to the Gazette. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released. Trimble was not injured in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Department.
