Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ Featured in Taco Bell Super Bowl Commercial
Apparently Taco Bell's quesalupa is going to be pretty freakin' huge. Bigger than almost anything you can think of. And something this big needs a pretty epic song to introduce it. Enter Guns N' Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle."
The 30-second spot, titled "Bigger Than ..., " is part of the fast-food chain's new campaign for the quesalupa (it's basically a fried taco shell). And if we're to believe Taco Bell, the quesalupa (yeah, they made up that word) is going to be bigger than drones, man buns and hoverboards.
You can watch the commercial, which aired during the Super Bowl, above.
The beginning of Guns N' Roses' 1987 classic is heard as folks run through a series of modern fads throughout the commercial. It doesn't really have much to do with the quesalupa, or Mexican food at all, but "Welcome to the Jungle," as always, sure makes its presence known.
This spot also makes a Jan. 1 tweet from singer Axl Rose seem like foreshadowing. Referencing then-rampant GNR reunion rumors, he wrote, “The only thing I know 'confirmed' is my LOVE of Taco Bell! Mmmmm…. Taco Bell!! Happy New Years!!” Of course, within days, a very busy year began to come into focus for a rebuilt Guns N' Roses.
We now know that Rose will be performing with guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan at their first shows in years in April, starting with a pair of concerts in Las Vegas, including one in Mexico City and wrapping up with two weekends at Coachella.
No other dates have been announced yet, but there's much speculation that a bigger tour will be set for 2016. And no other members have been confirmed for the shows yet, but rumors point to guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer and keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman as being part of the lineup.
