This has been a particularly exciting week for the Field of Dreams movie site. Earlier this week, it was revealed that the iconic ballfield would be prominently featured in a new episode of the Iowa PBS show Road Trip Iowa in June. Now, it's been confirmed that a two-time World Series champion will be visiting the movie-site for an event later this summer.

That champion is Ben Zobrist, who was also the MVP of the 2016 World Series with the Chicago Cubs. Zobrist is a three-time MLB All-Star, who also won the World Series with the Kansas City Royals the year before in 2015. A second baseman and outfielder, Zobrist played most of his career with the Tampa Bay Rays. He retired a Cub following the 2019 season.

Zobrist will be in attendance for the Ghost Players event at the Field of Dreams movie site on August 3rd, 2024. The retired ballplayer will be available for autographs and photos from 10-11:30am ahead of his performance, per a press release.

Also known as "The Greatest Show on Dirt," the Field of Dreams' Ghost Players event is a family-friendly afternoon of fun and laughs that "center around hijinks on the baseball diamond." This event is scheduled four times during summer 2024, each one starting at 1pm (with the exception of August 17th, which will start at 6pm). Ben Zobrist will appear at the show on August 3rd.

The best part about the "Ghost Players" event? All shows are free to attend! Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Zobrist's spent 14 years in Major League Baseball, playing several different positions. He was a member of consecutive World Series-winning teams, and played nine seasons with the Rays, half a season with the Oakland Athletics (before being traded to the Royals ahead of what would be their championship run, and spent his final three years as a pro with the Cubs.

It's a big year for the Field of Dreams movie site, as it's celebrating its 35th anniversary. In the present, the site features tours of the famous house, and hosts baseball tournaments and overnight stays in the home as well.

However, the MLB's new, annual Field of Dreams game will be held at Rickwood Field in Alabama this year due to the movie site undergoing extensive upgrades and renovations. Rickwood Field was where Willie Mays played for the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro Leagues. It is the oldest ballpark in America.

Find out more about the upcoming "Ghost Players" events that will take place at the Field of Dreams on the site's official website.
