If you missed your opportunity (or, let's be real, you're like me and couldn't afford it) to see Taylor Swift on her wildly successful Eras Tour, this is your chance to experience the songs of Taylor without breaking the bank.

A Taylor Swift tribute band is coming to the Five Flags Center in Dubuque on Friday, September 29th. The Chicago-based group Burning Red will be taking the stage, performing 30+ songs from various points in Taylor's career. Burning Red wants to entertain you whether you're a fan of debut-era Taylor, 1989-era Taylor, or even the new Folklore/Evermore/Midnights-era Taylor.

I got to chat with Gina CC, the lead singer of Burning Red, ahead of her band's performance at Five Flags Center. My burning question was how she got involved in a Taylor Swift tribute band. Her answer was pretty inspiring in itself:

I'm a Swiftie, and I am a musician [....] I was looking for a new project and wanted to do a cover/tribute band. My husband is actually the guitarist was like, 'listen, all you ever do is talk about Taylor Swift, you eat, sleep, and breathe Taylor Swift, obviously the next project has to be a Taylor Swift tribute band [....] I play piano like Taylor. I play guitar like Taylor. I've been songwriting since I was a little kid like Taylor, so it was just such a natural transition, and a way for me to be a Swiftie and create a space for other Swifties together to sing along and dance along to all these songs that we love so much.

Gina went on to talk about how certain songs cultivate atmospheres for her shows. The 10-minute version of "All Too Well" gets everyone singing. She describes the transition from that to "Don't Blame Me" as "a religious experience." Gina and the group also bring kids on the stage to dance along to "Shake It Off," making this an interactive show to some degree as well.

Tickets to Burning Red: A Tribute to Taylor at Five Flags Center are a bargain at only $18, and are available for purchase at the Five Flags Center box office and online via Ticketmaster. The show will take place on Friday, September 29th at 7pm.
