tri-state throwbacks

Know what's awesome about being down the hall from the two big top 40 stations of the '70s, '80s and '90s?  You happen upon some pretty cool stuff...and recently, we stumbled across a huge collection of WDBQ and K-Live 105 music surveys that counted down the biggest hits in the area every week.  Instead of just geeking out on them ourselves, we thought we'd share them with you!  So here's the top 5 songs from May 6, 1991:

5. Amy Grant/"Baby, Baby"
You think her daughter -- you know, the baby in question -- finds this video to be kinda creepy?  It's her mom.

4. Divinyls/"I Touch Myself"
I wonder what this song's about.

3. C+C Music Factory/"Here We Go (Let's Rock & Roll)"
Sure, everybody remembers "Gonna Make You Sweat," or even "Things That Make You Go Hmmm...", but this song slaps, too.

2. Hi-Five/"I Like The Way (The Kissing Game)"
Now, is that a board game?  How many people can play?  I have SO. MANY. QUESTIONS.

1. Cathy Dennis/"Touch Me (All Night Long)"
I LOVE THIS SONG.  I'm not even ashamed to admit it.  So Cathy Dennis wasn't exactly a one-hit wonder...she had a couple other minor hits but then went ahead and became a massive songwriter in the 2000s.  Some of the songs she wrote: Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out Of My Head," Britney Spears' "Toxic," Katy Perry's "I Touched A Girl," and S Club 7's "Never Had A Dream Come True."

Hope you dug today's Tri-State Throwbacks.  Make sure you check back Monday through Friday for a new countdown!
