Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

On the very first night of the band's 1995 Dogs With Wings tour, something went laughably wrong.

The former Heartbreakers guitarist will play a series of shows that promise "stories and songs" from his recently released memoir.

Some were done in one shot, others took a lot longer to get right.

Even the lower-ranked tracks are still pretty great.

“Tom made his own decisions about what he wanted," explains the Heartbreakers guitarist.

He would begin an interesting three-pronged career resurgence not long after the 2000s got underway.
