The City of Dubuque Leisure Services Department is gearing up for an exciting summer season with the announcement of the opening dates for Flora and Sutton pools. Weather permitting, the pools are set to welcome visitors starting on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024.

Residents can purchase annual swim passes online or at the Leisure Services office. Pass prices range from $42 for youth (4-17) to $74 for adults (18 and older), with seniors (55 and older) priced at $53. Children aged 3 and under enjoy free admission.

First-time buyers acquiring passes online need to visit the office for a photo and pass collection, while renewals are seamlessly applied online. Notably, swim passes will NOT be available for purchase at the pools this summer.

Families facing financial constraints can benefit from the Leisure Services Family Scholarship, offering a $150 credit for qualified households. This credit can be used not only for swim passes but also for various other services. Additionally, low-income individuals without scholarship credits can purchase swim passes at half-price.

Registration for swim lessons and pool rentals opens on April 24th through the RecTrac online system. Lessons and pool rentals provide further avenues for community engagement and enjoyment.

With a comprehensive range of services and facilities, Dubuque residents have ample opportunities to make the most of the summer season, whether it's learning to swim, enjoying a leisurely dip, or hosting a memorable event at the pools.

Additionally, positions are still available for both concessions workers and lifeguards. The city offers flexible scheduling, pay for lifeguards starts at $15 an hour, and you will be trained in water rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid, CPR, AED, and other lifesaving skills.

For residents looking to take in a day at Sutton or Flora the pre-season schedule is as follows:

  • Monday – Friday (May 28 – June 7)
    7 – 9 a.m. Adult Swim & Water Playground (ages 5 and under)
    12 – 1 p.m. Adult Swim & Water Playground (ages 5 and under)
    1 – 4:30 p.m. Open Swim
    5 – 6 p.m. Adult Swim
    6 – 8 p.m. Open Swim
  • Saturday & Sunday (June 1 – 2)
    10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Open Swim
    1:30 – 4:30 p.m. Open Swim

Regular season hours will begin on Saturday, June 8th. To provide both evening swim lessons and evening open swim, the evening schedule at each pool will alternate every two weeks. Regular season hours will be as follows:

  • Monday – Friday
    7 – 8:30 a.m. Adult Swim & Water Playground (ages 5 and under)
    12 – 1 p.m. Adult Swim & Water Playground (ages 5 and under)
    1 – 4:30 p.m. Open Swim
    5 – 8 p.m. See evening swim schedule.
  • Saturday & Sunday
    10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Open Swim
    1:30 – 4:30 p.m. Open Swim
    5 – 7 p.m. Rentals
  • Evening Swim Schedule (Monday – Friday)
  • June 10 – 20 & July 8 - 18
    Flora Pool
    5 – 6 p.m. Adult Swim
    6 – 8 p.m. Open Swim
  • Sutton Pool – Evening swim lessons only.
  • June 24 – July 5 & July 22 – Aug. 1
    (No evening open swim on July 3 – 4)

    6 – 8 p.m. Open SwimFlora Pool – Evening swim lessons only.
