A Cedar Rapids Bar Has Reopened After a Big Remodel [PHOTOS]
A popular bar with a great view of the river has reopened just in time for the spring and summer season! The Shack Tavern at 2545 Old River Rd SW in Cedar Rapids is making a comeback!
According to the Facebook page, the Shack Tavern officially shut its doors on November 5th of 2023. The post said that the bar would not be open again anytime in the near future, but there was some good news. It was revealed that the Shack would be getting new owners and managers and would be doing some remodeling!
The new owners of The Shack Tavern are Kevin and Jacque Rowray, and for the past few months, they have been updating the interior and exterior of the bar. Photos on the Facebook page show new floors, new bike racks, new lines in the parking lot, and an updated bar. Additionally, the Shack is also working on a new menu. Right now it includes items like cheese curds, onion rings, spicy pickle fries, wings, cheeseburgers, tenderloins, chicken sandwiches, and more. The full menu is available each night until one hour before close, and then after that it's fried food only. And, the original Lemon Press is back, which has a lot of Eastern Iowans pretty excited!
The Shack Tavern is currently open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m. The bar has daily food specials, live music, and karaoke on the calendar. You can get the latest updates from the Shack by following the official Facebook page HERE.
