Big Apple Bagels' annual "Stocktoberfest" event is just shy of a month away, but it's not too early to start seeing if you can scrounge up some items to donate!

Big Apple Bagels is holding their "Stocktoberfest" event in collaboration with St. Stephens Food Bank from October 13th - 15th. Big Apple, located at 1675 John F. Kennedy Road in Dubuque, will collect non-perishable food items at their shop with the goal to fill up a truckload of food for people in need just in time for the winter season. Resources Unite will also be assisting with the event!

Judy Faulhaber of Big Apple stopped by the studio to talk about the event, and inform people of what kind of items they are looking to collect:

I know that going into fall and winter, [St. Stephens likes] to stock up on peanut butter, soups, spaghetti [sauce], spaghetti noodles, frozen meats. [Heartier foods], things you like to make at home and have yourself.

Canned vegetables and macaroni and cheese are welcome, as are hygiene products, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, toilet paper, feminine products, laundry soap, and so on. For families that have fallen on tough times in lieu of the pandemic, these items can and will go a long way.
