A Game Series So Good, John Carpenter Wants To Make A Movie Out Of It!?

Yup! I told you Dead Space was a killer series. I mean, that's the reason it's getting a re-make, as I stated in my earlier article. And did I mention, the game will feature no camera cuts or load screens; unless you die, that is.

And that recent game remake has again brought back the prospect of what could be a really awesome film series! And who better to Direct than one of the masters of horror himself, John Carpenter.

Yes, the master of horror himself has officially come forward and said the series not only should have a big screen adaptation; but that he would be interested in directing and/or producing. He also let slip that a movie version of Dead Space may already be in the works.

According to a recent interview with Screenrant, Carpenter said,

"Oh yeah, wouldn't that be great to do a movie on that? Sure [I’m still interested], but I don't have anything to do with it, because it's not my project. I believe there's already a producer who wants to do it, and a director, so no one's asked me. But if they did, I would say yes, immediately. It's a really scary project, and I'd love to take it on."

Carpenter has seemed to recently retire from making movies, his last director action being "The Ward" in 2010, but he remains active as a film composer and producer. In addition, Carpenter has also become an avid gamer, making him a hero to younger generations that have embraced his movies.

I mean who could forget easily one of the best sci-fi horror films of all time "The Thing".

The practical/special effects on the movie alone make it an instant classic for the genre. Did you know they used a variety of materials including mayonnaise, creamed corn, microwaved bubble gum, and K-Y Jelly to create some of those creature effects in the film!?

John Carpenter would be a no brainer based on "The Thing" alone; his created amalgamation of monstrosities so closely resemble the Necromorphs from Dead Space, their movements, sounds, and yes, deaths. In fact, the game developers have said they were heavily inspired by "The Thing" for the monster design, as well as elements from other horror classics like "Event Horizon", "Alien/s", and past games like the Resident Evil Series.

Dead Space has already had animated features produced, titled "Downfall" and "Aftermath". Both are based on source material and provide some extra cannon outside of the games; a live action film is the only next logical step to make here. And PLEASE, let John Carpenter be involved!
