Watch Charlize Theron Kick Some Ass to a Queen Classic in New ‘Atomic Blonde’ Trailer

We’re not sure if Queen had in mind the sort of stylish ass kicking Charlize Theron lays down in the new trailer for the upcoming movie Atomic Blonde when they recorded “Killer Queen,” but we can’t think of a more appropriate song for the three-minute clip.

In the movie, which is set to open July 28, Theron plays an MI6 agent tearing through Berlin in 1989 in search of the person (or persons) killing off other spies. After about 30 seconds of Theron suiting up for action (while a dreary cover of New Order’s classic “Blue Monday” plays), the bullets start flying.

Things get even better around the 1:10 mark, when we’re introduced to Theron’s character, Lorraine Broughton, as “Killer Queen” starts up. It’s not long before fists, feet and, in one sequence, tongues are flying all over the place.

You can watch the trailer above.

“Killer Queen” was released a few weeks in advance of Queen’s third album, Sheer Heart Attack, in 1974. It became their first huge hit, reaching No. 2 in their native U.K. and No. 12 in the U.S., their first Top 100 hit in the States.

The band wrote the song about a different sort of working girl who looks good in thigh-high boots — a prostitute with high-end tastes. The song marked Queen’s transformation toward a more radio-friendly sound. It paid off: The album was a hit, and a year later they made their masterpiece, A Night at the Opera.

The group will hit the road about a month before Atomic Blonde opens, on June 23, for a summer tour with singer Adam Lambert.
