St. Mark Youth Enrichment, formerly known as the St. Mark Community Center, is a non-profit organization that super-serves the Dubuque Community and has done so for more than 30 years. St. Mark's also provides after school programming in the Dubuque Community School District, Dyersville, and Peosta. It seems kids, now more than ever, need a safe place; and parents need to know their children are being taken care of with care and compassion.

And according to a press release from the organization, you can help keep these amazing and tailored youth programs alive and well during St. Mark's annual fundraising event; " Legacy of Learning" Thursday, May 11th at the Hotel Julien. A live stream will be available on the organizations website and its Facebook page on the night of the event. This is just one of several ways St. Mark's raises funds to support area youth and families in the Dubuque and Western Dubuque area.

This year’s theme is “Stories by the Campfire.” The event will highlight stories from St. Mark parents and kids and focus on the impact St. Mark has had on the more than 400 students it serves. The event will include a breakfast buffet and live auction for in-person attendees and party packs for remote attendees.

“The team at St. Mark is so excited to welcome people back in person for Legacy of Learning 2023: Stories by the Campfire. Our guests last year loved the casual camping theme so much—we’re back to transform the ballroom of the Hotel Julien into the great outdoors for a night of stories & impact.”

Here is a list of what to expect for the May 11th event:

  • A night filled with stories and fun. St. Mark's kids have a lot of stories to share.

  • If you’re attending in person, you can expect the night to end with a live auction and an opportunity to support the kids.

  • If you’re attending online, you can expect to see and hear the same stories as the people in the room and to be recognized just as if you were joining the event in person that day.

  • This is St. Mark's biggest fundraising event of the year. Students need your support as we continue to move through these challenging times.

St. Mark has been working around the clock building connections with kids transitioning back to in-person programs. Director Dawn Cogan adds that the focus of this year’s event will focus on supporting these kids and families who’ve experienced “significant trauma” over the last few years and continuing to be a needed resource for hard-working parents to have a safe, loving environment for their kids to experience fun, learning, and belonging after school.

“The focus is still supporting our kids when needed most. I don’t think there’s ever been a time when that purpose has been more important. These parents and kids are depending on us.”

-Dawn Cogan, Director

The event is sponsored by Empower, John Deere Dubuque Works & others. For a full list of sponsors visit www.stmarkyouthenrichment.org/legacy. There are additional sponsorship opportunities still available at this time.
