"Pet of the Week" is brought to you by Finnin Kia, a trusted Kia dealer in Dubuque, IA. This week, the Dubuque Regional Humane Society is highlighting another amazing four-legged friend:
Everyone, say hello to Trooper!
Trooper is a special 13-year-old cat. She is diabetic and requires special health care, including daily insulin. Caring for a diabetic cat involves a few key steps: regularly monitoring your cat's blood glucose levels, administering insulin as prescribed by your vet, and a consistent, balanced diet—preferably one high in protein and low in carbohydrates.
It's essential to maintain a regular feeding and insulin schedule to keep blood sugar levels stable. Regular vet check-ups are crucial to monitor your cat's condition and adjust treatment as needed. Lastly, watch for signs of hypo- or hyperglycemia, such as lethargy, excessive thirst, or changes in appetite, and seek veterinary care if these occur.
Trooper likes to keep you company and isn’t overly touchy-feely when it comes to being picked up. One of Trooper’s favorite things to do is look out the window and observe what’s going on. She likes to do things on her own terms and is independent, but social when she wants to be. Take a chance and make Trooper your fur-ever pet today.
