The holiday weekend always brings about extensive travel, and this weekend that led to several accidents involving injuries and arrests/citations in Illinois.

On Friday, My 26th, just after 4pm Jo Daviess County Dispatch received a 911 call on a two-vehicle rollover accident with injuries near intersection of Illinois Route 84 North and West Council Hill road. Ariving Deputies learned that Timothy Krieger, 25 of Dubuque, was driving a 2009 Chevy Cruze south on Route 84 following farm equipment. Meanwhile, Dale Hammer Jr., 35 of Hazel Green, was traveling South on 84 as well. Hammer failed to slow down and struck the rear of Krieger's vehicle. Hammer's vehicle rolled several times and came to rest in the North bound ditch. Hammer was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque for non life-threatening injuries. Krieger was not injured in the accident. Hammer Jr. was also arrested for operating an uninsured vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The collision remains under investigation.

On Saturday, May 27th, just before 7pm, Jo Daviess County Deputies were dispatched to the area of IL RT 78 South and East Loran Road in rural Stockton for personal injuries from a motorcycle accident. Arriving deputies learned that a motorcycle driven by Jonathan Peevey, 21 of Stockton, and carrying passenger Alexis Ernst, 23 of Stockon, lost control traveling Northbound on IL RT 78 South. He then hit the gravel shoulder and left the roadway. The motorcycle overturned and landed on its side before coming to rest. Both occupants were transported by Stockton EMS to Freeport Memorial Hospital for treatment. Peevey was cited with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid and Accident and Violation of Classification. The accident remains under investigation.

On Monday, May 29th, just before 8pm, Jo Davies County dispatch received a report of a rollover traffic crash with injuries on IL RT 84 North just south of West Furlong Road in rural Galena. Arriving deputies learned that Joshua K. Knowles, 34 of Bettendorf, was driving a 2003 Ford Ranger south on IL RT 84 North. Knowles was said to have veered off the roadway to the right, entering the gravel shoulder. He then over corrected crossing both lanes of traffic and entered the east ditch. Knowles's pickup struck the embankment causing it to roll over. Knowles was transported by Galena EMS to MercyOne medical center in Dubuque for treatment. No charges have been filed as of now, and the accident remains under investigation.
