$20K Donated to River Bend Food Bank Boosts Iowa and Illinois Families
As the holidays begin again, ITC Midwest is spreading some extra cheer by donating $20,000 to help feed families. This generous gift comes at a time when many are feeling the financial pinch and need a little extra help putting meals on the table. Serving both eastern Iowa and western Illinois, River Bend Food Bank plays a huge role in making sure no one goes hungry. This substantial donation will go a long way toward that mission and just in time for Christmas and the New Year.
“We recognize family budgets are tight right now and appreciate the ongoing local efforts by food banks to address food insecurity. Our commitment to serving communities extends beyond providing safe and reliable electric transmission service. We care about the communities we serve and are acting today to help support individuals and families to help lighten their load at a critical time.”
-Dusky Terry, ITC Midwest President
According to the press release, the money will help provide meals for people across 23 counties, reaching families through more than 400 local pantries and partners. With the holiday season now in full swing, these contributions make a real difference for folks who might otherwise struggle to fill their bellies. The Davenport warehouse is the central hub, at 80,000 square feet, and stores fresh produce, dairy, and frozen proteins, ready to be distributed to those who need it most. Other regional warehouses are located in Dubuque and Galesburg.

In our Tri-State community, families have access to 31 pantry locations within a 20-mile radius of Dubuque, making sure the food gets to the people who need it efficiently. From Dubuque to Galesburg, the River Bend network is working, connecting food to families across the region.
“ITC Midwest’s generous gift will provide 100,000 meals to people facing hunger in our communities – an incredible impact. We truly could not do what we do without the support of caring business partners like ITC Midwest.”
-Dorie Arp-Benore, Director of Donor Relations at River Bend Food Bank
This donation isn’t just about dollars. It’s about bringing holiday spirit and some extra hope to families. With the support of local and regional companies, like ITC Midwest, River Bend Food Bank can continue to make a meaningful impact, one meal at a time. And at 20 million meals provided each year, you can give back too.
Did you know that just $1 donated to River Bend can provide five meals! They also have a large need for specific non-perishable food items that can be donated. Items like canned meats, stews, soups, chilis, vegetables, and peanut butter. And remember, River Bend Food Bank also accepts food past the date on the label as long as it’s unopened and the packaging isn’t bulging, has an odor, or is rusted. As the season of giving is officially underway, it’s a reminder that small acts of generosity can warm hearts and fill plates across Iowa and Illinois.
