
Dubuque Home Sustains $20K in Fire Damage, All Occupants Safe
A residential fire caused by electrical wiring damage broke out Thursday evening at a home on Rockdale Road in Dubuque, according to the Dubuque Fire Department.

Fire crews were dispatched at 6:14 PM on January 8th, 2026, to a reported structure fire at 1991 Rockdale Road. Multiple units responded with lights and sirens, including Engine 1, Engine 5, Engine 6, Truck 1, Truck 4, Medic 1, and Battalion 1. A total of 19 firefighters were involved in the response.
The homeowner reported smoke and fire coming from the attic. All occupants were able to safely exit the home before firefighters arrived. When crews reached the scene, they observed light smoke coming from the eaves of the house and confirmed an active attic fire.
Firefighters gained access to the attic and began applying water at approximately 6:28 PM. Crews also conducted ventilation and overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and did not spread to other parts of the structure. The fire was brought under control at approximately 6:39 PM.
A fire investigator later determined the cause of the fire to be arcing electrical wiring. No injuries were reported during the incident. The American Red Cross has provided assistance to the homeowner following the fire.
The home sustained an estimated $20,000 in damage, according to the fire department. After completing operations and ensuring the scene was safe, all fire department units returned to service. For incident specific details contact the Dubuque Fire Department.
