The 2025 WNBA season is roughly a month away (May 16th is the official start date). Excitement to see Caitlin Clark in her second season with the Indiana Fever is palpable. Last year, in her rookie season, she led the Fever to their first playoff appearance since 2015, earning All-Star and Rookie of the Year honors while doing it.

Timed perfectly with the start of a new season is a new book from author Sara Weiss. The book, called The Totally Awesome World of Caitlin Clark, is a book designed for those in middle-grades (ages eight to 12-years-old). It's a colorful book that recounts Caitlin Clark's upbringing, career at Iowa, and her first season in the WNBA.

I had the privilege of chatting with Sara Weiss, in lieu of the release of The Totally Awesome World of Caitlin Clark, which hits bookstore shelves and online retailers on April 22nd, 2025.

If the moniker "Totally Awesome World" seems even tangentially familiar to you, you might've seen one of the colorful covers in a bookstore before. Author Neal Fischer has written similarly structured books on athletes like Steph Curry and Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as internet superstar MrBeast for The Quarto Group. These books are tremendously accessible for young readers, who are interested in people whose names they likely hear all the time.

Weiss is a lifelong writer. She actively writes audio scripts for a podcast called Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls, and she has a deep catalog of short and long-form writing. In our interview, Weiss described how Clark's story fascinated her from the beginning. She pored over interviews, her Iowa and Fever games, press conferences, and more in order to understand and better contextualize Clark's rise as a global superstar both on and off the court.

The Totally Awesome World of Caitlin Clark is a vibrant and colorful read. It thoughtfully blends compelling storytelling with full-color photos and informative graphics helping young readers understand the game of basketball. For young boys and girls interested in Clark, or the sport in general, it would make a delightful introduction to the fun world of reading.

Recently, Clark herself appeared on David Letterman's Netflix show called My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. Clark opened up about her childhood, competitive drive, thoughts on sports psychology, and more to the talk show legend. You can watch that episode on Netflix now!
