AUTHOR'S NOTE/AMENDMENT: In writing this piece, I failed to notice that my source for this story (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) was dated May 2nd, 2025, well over a month prior to this publication. All PZH Foods LLC-owned Milwaukee Pizza Hut locations have been reopened following the temporary closure, and are presently serving customers. I sincerely apologize for any confusion perpetuated by the publishing of this piece.

Out of the blue, with little notice, all six Milwaukee Pizza Hut locations have been shut down. The company has landed in serious hot water with the local health department for a serious violation.

Milwaukee Health Department officials confirmed with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that all six locations were closed after the learning that the restaurants' new owners had not yet received food dealer licenses. It is illegal for a restaurant to operate without one, hence why the move was to close the restaurants immediately.

Food dealer licenses are legally required for any person or business selling, serving, or storing food in Milwaukee, per the Office of the City Clerk License Division. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel also noted that Milwaukee's Pizza Hut franchises are owned by PHZ, with previous owners, EYM Pizza, relinquishing control "several weeks ago."

All locations will be eligible to reopen once the restaurants undergo and pass the application process. The Milwaukee Health Department also said they expect the closures to be temporary, and are ultimately consistent with standard operating procedures.
