The Stanley Cup will make a stop in Dubuque at an upcoming Dubuque Fighting Saints game.

Here's the official release from the Dubuque Fighting Saints...

THE STANLEY CUP IS COMING TO DUBUQUE

Iconic trophy to be in the Key City on March 25

The world’s most iconic championship trophy is coming to Our House. On March 25, in a game against the Bloomington Thunder, the Stanley Cup will be in the building for one night only. The night is made possible by Dubuque Fire Equipment.

The three-foot tall trophy, crafted from silver and nickel alloy, will be on display throughout the night. Fans are encouraged to take pictures with the most famous trophy in the sporting world.

“To our knowledge, this is the first time the Stanley Cup has been here in Dubuque,” said Katie Kenne, the Fighting Saints’ Director of Sales and Marketing. “We’re excited to bring the Cup here and we are thrilled that Dubuque Fire Equipment helped us put this night together.”

“The Cup,” presented to the National Hockey League’s champion, has proven to be the ultimate symbol of tradition in the game of hockey. Most recently, the Stanley Cup was awarded to the Chicago Blackhawks.

The team that wins the Stanley Cup requires that each player spend one day with it during the summer, no matter where in the world they live. One well-known hockey superstition states that if a player has not won the Stanley Cup, they cannot touch it until they have won the Stanley Cup Final.

The Stanley Cup is outside of its home at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto 300 days every year.
