Fire Hydrants Need Your Help Too

With the recent heavy snowfall in Dubuque everyone has been busy shoveling out their sidewalks and driveways.But there is one other very important place you need to shovel.  If you have a fire hydrant on your property chances are it looks a little like this hydrant just outside the WJOD studios..

Do yourself and your local firefighter a favor....spend a few minutes to remove the snow from around the hydrant.  The few minutes you spend now could save valuable minutes in an event their is a fire near your home.  I removed the snow around our hydrant this morning.  Took me about 10 minutes

Hopefully you'll never need to use a fire hydrant.  But if you do it's important to make it as easy as possible for fire crews to reach your hydrant.
