Bee Branch Cleanup Set for April 24th
Come celebrate Earth Day by helping clean up the Lower Bee Branch on Monday, April 24, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. Following the cleanup there will be a short geocaching session!
Geocaching is the activity of finding hidden containers called “caches” using a GPS device and internet published coordinates. In advance of this activity, participants are welcome to visit www.geocaching.com to download the free official Geocaching Intro App and set up an account. To locate caches, participants must bring a smartphone.
The Bee Branch Cleanup is an official Cache In Trash Out® (CITO) event. CITO is an environmental initiative supported by the geocaching community. Geocachers and community groups work together to improve parks and other outdoor environments. Since 2002, CITO has helped preserve the natural beauty of cache-friendly spaces. In that time, more than 240,000 people have volunteered at 11,000 CITO events.
This event is free, and no registration is required. All ages are welcome! Please meet at the Bee Branch Creek maintenance building located near the E. 16th St. bridge. For questions or more information, contact the City of Dubuque Leisure Services Dept. at (563) 589-4263.
