AC/DC + Axl Rose Bust Out ‘Live Wire’ for Their First U.S. Show Together

Holy smoke and sweet desire! AC/DC celebrated their first United States concert with Axl Rose as their singer by performing the 1975 T.N.T. classic “Live Wire” for the first time in over 30 years.

The band has been digging out an increasing number of long-shelved Bon Scott-era classics (including “Touch Too Much” and “If You Want Blood (You Got It)“) since recruiting Rose to fill in for longtime singer Brian Johnson, who was forced to retire from the road at least temporarily after doctors warned him that he risked “total hearing loss” if he continued performing live with the group. As you can see in this recent feature, Johnson’s departure is just one of many chaotic events the legendary Australian band has endured during their current world tour.

Just five nights ago, Rose – clearly the front-runner in the race for rock and roll’s 2016 Most Valuable Player trophy – played the last currently scheduled American date of Guns N’ Roses’ incredibly successful and drama-free reunion tour. About a month after this short set of AC/DC dates concludes on Sept. 20 in Philadelphia, Penn., he’ll return to his original band for a series of shows in South America and Japan.

Angus Young recently stated that he doesn’t know what the future holds for AC/DC. Bassist Cliff Williams declared that he will retire from the band following the Rock or Bust tour, leaving Young as the only remaining member of the group’s 1994-2014 lineup.
