It's hard enough to drive through Dubuque with Road Construction underway at several major intersections.

And now another major road is set for temporary closure. A sanitary sewer improvement project will require the closure of a portion of the major east/west thoroughfare, Asbury Road, between Clarke Drive and University Avenue.

Work is scheduled to start on Monday June 13, at 7 a.m. and will end on Tuesday, June 21, at 5 p.m. During this time, Asbury Road will be closed to through traffic and will be temporarily opened the evening of Friday, June 17, through the morning of Monday, June 20. Local businesses will remain open and access will be maintained during construction.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured to Clarke Drive to N. Grandview Avenue, Loras Boulevard, and University Avenue. Westbound traffic will be detoured to University Avenue, Pennsylvania Avenue, and Chaney Road. A map of the detour is available at www.cityofdubuque.org/detours.

The project involves the removal and replacement of original brick manholes and the repair of sanitary sewer main and lateral connections along with road surface restoration disturbed during this project.

For additional information on this project, please contact Inflow and Infiltration Inspector Nick Connolly at 563-690-6554 or nconnoll@cityofdubuque.org.
